Nobody is a perfect sports fan but I can surely lead you in the right direction of becoming a better sports fan or maybe show you the world of being a sports fan. With that in mind, here are a few steps that can help you. Enjoy.
1. Pay attention to the sport. Whether you are watching the game from television, listening on the radio, or actually at the game, paying attention to what is going on is key. This goes for any sport, if you want to become a sports fan you have to know the basics of what you are watching.
2. Show some pride! Buy some apparel that your team sells. Walking around flashing some fancy team apparel is fun and it shows people that you enjoy sports. Maybe LSC is handing out free green and gold beads, I would grab some of those and wear them proudly and besides, they are free. I personally wear something every day that is sports related. Some people may think that is overkill, I like to think of it as dedication.
3. Cheer your damn head off! Let’s say you are watching the LSC Hornets kicking some butt, well if LSC is winning, you should be cheering! It lets people know that you want to win and that you are connected to the game. Try not to get into a conflict with an opposing teams fan base but if you do, just cheer in their face… have a friend cheer with you when this occurs.
4. Support your team even when they are losing or have a losing record. Hey, everyone loses at some point in their life, and it doesn’t always feel good. Well that sports team you support is like your best friend, cheer them on even when it seems like nothing good will come of it.
5. Respect other sports in general. There are hundreds of sports that exist and perhaps you only follow one sport. As a fan of sports you should never hate other sports. For example, if you love football but hate hockey, you shouldn’t tell someone that is a hockey fan that hockey sucks. All sports deserve respect even if they seem foolish.
