rWe want to welcome you all back to LSC for the spring semester! Part 2 of the academic year is here and boy does it fly by. While you are getting back into the swing of things take a minute to make a short bucket list of things you want to do over the next four months. Take a look at ours:
1. Take Pictures - capture every moment - with friends, the way the sky looks, that delicious meal you just had. These moments will turn into memories that you can look back on years down the road.
2. Have a Vermont Day - Grab some friends, $20 and get in the car and go! Experience the essence of Vermont and make sure to stop at the Ben and Jerry's Factory, the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, and the Cabot Visitor Center.
3. Explore Willoughby - Take a hike, hang out on the beach (definitely pack your sweatshirt) or drive around and soak in the views. We are so lucky to live in a place with such natural beauty all around us. Get out there!
4. Spend time getting to know a faculty member better - Lyndon is such a close knit community with a lot of diversity. Take advantage of this opportunity and get to know a faculty member on a more personal level. Ask them questions about their own life experiences such as "How did you end up at Lyndon?" or "What piece of advice could you give me about life?" Attend a Year of Compassion event, meet up at the Hornet's Nest, or make an appointment in their office.
5. Attend a Spring Sporting Event - gather up all of your pep and cheer on the Hornets! Baseball, Softball, and Men's Lacrosse will have home games towards the middle/end of the semester if the weather allows. Bring your friends, a blanket, some sunglasses, get out to the fields and enjoy supporting your fellow classmates.
If this is your first spring semester I highly recommend crossing all of these off your bucket list. You might find a new hang out spot, experience a new sense of community here on campus and make memories that will come in handy once you are home for the summer and your friends aren't living down the hall.
If you are a sophomore or junior take a break from your typical routine and comfort zone and try something new. It is so easy to get caught up in academics and your weekly routines with your friends. Shake things up and cross these off your list - I know you think you have so much time but it runs out faster than you think.
For those of us graduating in May this is the home stretch, the final countdown - this bucket list has more significance to us. Get your friends together and add some more adventures to this list and do them!
We are all here to get an education and further our careers but the activities we do outside of the classroom also play a huge role in our character development, they help us to get to know ourselves better and give us moments that we can look back on years down the road. So welcome back, study hard and don't forget to go out and experience everything you can this semester!
